Caps need a driver — a specialised cap hoop that holds the curved panel flat and feeds it under the needle. Embroidering a cap in a flat hoop is why so much cap work comes out crooked or bunched at the seam.

we’ve learned.
Front, side, and rear
The front panel is the obvious spot, but a small side-panel mark or text across the back strap often looks better on a modern cap — and costs less.
3D puff
Foam laid under the stitching gives that raised, sharp-edged look on snapbacks. It suits bold block lettering and simple shapes; fine detail and small text don't survive it, and we'll say so.
Working around the seam
On 6-panel caps a centre seam runs straight through the design area. We either split the artwork around it or shift the design — what we don't do is stitch over it and hope.
Structured vs unstructured
Stiff-fronted caps hold a big logo well. Soft, unstructured caps need a lighter, lower-density design or the front collapses inwards when worn.
